A BILL to amend and reenact section two, article seven, chapter seventeen-a of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, relating to increasing the fees for special stickers issued by the division of public safety for the limited operation of motor vehicles; and using the increased fees for the division of public safety retirement system.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That section two, article seven, chapter seventeen-a of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended and reenacted to read as follows:
ARTICLE 7. SPECIAL STICKERS.

§17A-7-2. Operation of motor vehicles by dealers or other persons under special stickers; application and fees; expiration.

A member of the department division of public safety may at any detachment office, upon application therefor on a form prescribed by the commissioner, issue to a licensed dealer or anyother person other than those specified in section one of this article, a paper sticker or decal to be affixed to the left side of the rear window of a motor vehicle or to the left rear of a vehicle which is not self-propelled. Such The sticker or decal shall be of a size to be designated by the commissioner and shall be serially numbered and shall have provision thereon to indicate the date of issuance thereof. A fee of one dollar ten dollars per sticker shall be charged and one dollar of the fee shall be deposited in the state road fund. Such The sticker or decal shall be valid for forty-eight hours after its issuance for the operation of a vehicle, whether under its own power or while being towed, one time only over the streets or highways of this state, and upon being once affixed to a vehicle shall become invalid for subsequent use on that or any other vehicle.
Nine dollars of the fee for special stickers shall be deposited in the state treasury for the exclusive use of the division of public safety retirement system.



NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to increase the fee, from $1.00 to $10.00, for special stickers issued by members of the division of public safety to dealers and other persons for the limited operation of motor vehicles. The increased portion of the fee is to be used for the Division of Public Safety Retirement System.
